Overview and Scrutiny Committee and Scrutiny Commissions

The Overview and Scrutiny function acts as a check and balance on the Executive Mayor, holding him to account for his decisions. Scrutiny also reviews and helps to develop Council policies to ensure that they have a positive impact on the people of Newham. The Mayor and cabinet members may not sit on the Overview and Scrutiny Committee or the Scrutiny Commissions it sets up to look into specific topics and activities.
